Maple Butcher Block is a great all-purpose top that can handle extreme surface abuse.  First it is kiln dried, and the edge is grain laminated for strength.  Next it is glued, electronically cured and sanded smooth.  Lastly, the maple is finished with a penetrating oil and sealed in a high quality catalyzed varnish
